The Temple

Cory took me to the Idaho Falls Temple today.

I walked through the green glass doors,
rushing water flowed out.
I carried with me carpet bags,
full of the cares of the world.
I dropped these at the feet
of those holding the cleansing authority,
standing in white before me,
who speak the tongue of Angels.
Take my chains, peel off the husks of pride
distill me down to my pure beginnings.
As a child I come to the altar
and offer
my whole soul.
Break my heart
and pour in the healing balm of Gilead.
Cover me in armor,
strengthen my weak limbs.
Lead me back through the green glass doors,
where with the water I rush
to the battle of the day.

I would like to tell you of our wonderful week we had a while ago...

"Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price."
2 Nephi 26:25

I love this scripture.
And I'll explain why.

A few months ago, the "Wedding of the Century" was to occur.  Prince William was to marry Katherine Middleton.  I happened to be awake at 4 a.m. with a baby, so I watched some of the pomp and circumstance.  Levi and I watched the vows:
And the curtsy:
 And their nieces and nephews:

And of course the kiss:
And it was all very fun and lovely, and the whole world seemed to be watching. Millions of dollars were spent on security alone, not to mention the flowers, food, clothes, etc.

Contrast this with the following experiences:

The Day after the Royal couple was wed, there occurred in the little town of Manti, Utah, a ceremony which had significance not only in this life, but in the life to come.
Cory's little sister Becky was married to her sweetheart in the Temple.
The same temple, the same room, where Cory & I  had been sealed 12 years ago.

And the COOLEST thing was that all of Cory's siblings were there, with their sweethearts.
This is a picture of all of the couple's siblings.  My husband is the cutest one, but don't tell his brothers I said that.
And here is their kiss on their balcony.
And their nieces and nephews.

What a great day.  And we didn't even have to spend millions to enjoy it.
So, within the same week of the wedding, we also experienced:

Saturday, April 23: Reed's Endowment.

Reed is my new brother in law.  Before he got married, we all attended his endowment session in the Salt Lake City Temple:
This was a beautiful experience.  Basically too sacred to write about here, but I loved it.

Sunday, April 24th
Levi's Baby Blessing
He was adorable on his special day-- except for the 5 minutes his father was pronouncing a blessing upon him.  He sort of wailed through the whole thing.  But that is okay.  We had lots of family here from both sides to support him:

This was the best we could do with the group of cousins.  They were all starving.

My cute siblings.  This is a very tame picture, actually.

Carla's Baptism, April 28th

Carla Sholler and her two children, the amazing investigators I wrote about earlier, who of course I still don't have a great picture of.   They all went down into the waters of baptism and committed themselves to Christ.  The gathering wasn't large, but her parents were there and the spirit was so strong.   I'm so amazed at her willingness to follow through with the convictions the spirit has put into her heart.  She rocks!
She has been coming to church, sitting in the second-to-front row, for three months now!  She has a calling in the Cub Scouts and is awesome.
 Carla's Confirmation, May 1st
Cory had the opportunity to confirm Brooklyn, Carla's daughter, a member of the faith.  This confirmation, along with the blessings upon Carla and Morgan, brought the most amazing, powerful feeling into the chapel.  It was as though Carla filled up the room with her faith!  After this experience, we had a very sweet and tender testimony meeting.

So, why did I start out with the scripture I chose?  Because the Lord offers the most amazing, out of this world experiences to anyone who wishes to partake of them.  I felt so close to Heaven on this week.  I know it isn't earthly treasures or titles that bring us happiness.  It is those sacred times when the Lord blesses us with his love and commendation.
